Personal branding and focus on career development needs to be addressed more carefully. Particularly the resume writing techniques need to be revised by creating a resume that can be used as a marketing brochure for the candidate.

job centre

Re: How to use Twitter to find your next job.

Twitter Comment

RT @litmanlive LitmanLive.co.uk » Blog Archive » How to use Twitter to find your next job. I always recommend thinking about it from the big company perspective. Small start-ups and forward thinking tech companies will have a more welcoming perspective to the online presence. Here are a few tips from my split personality as a career advisor and social media junkie and HR professional: http://www.susanstrayer.com...

Re: How to use Twitter to find your next job.

Great story, it's always fascinating to hear how people found jobs.

I blogged The Beginner’s Guide To Finding A Job With Twitter.

One follow up tip to what you say above- there are more and more twitter accounts being used to stream job listings. Don't follow them all; only follow the ones with relevant listings and use Twitter Search to generate RSS feeds on the job titles that interest you.

Re: How to use Twitter to find your next job.

I haven't been recruited via Twitter yet. I have been recruited through Facebook though and it seems like maybe they are taking notice because of Twitter. I am NOT really sure. I think it is a great tool to use. Everything you mentioned in your post is very true- what worked for me, I think, was transparency. Being yourself lets people know what kind of person you are and what to expect from you, which is a lot more than what they'd see on a CV; so when it comes to finding a job through Twitter there's none of that pressure of pretending to be someone you're not just to 'get the job', which is really refreshing.

Good luck in your new role!

Re: How to use Twitter to find your next job.

I also found a job through Twitter http://www.articlesbase.com...

Congrats to you - great post! :-)

Re: How to use Twitter to find your next job.

This is a really good read even if people aren't looking for a job. UK Companies are starting to get the nack of twitter, but so far this is the first success story I have seen from an employees perspective. I will link back on my facebook group. I think for most people the hardest part of writing a professional bio is choosing what to put in and what to leave out...so they avoid it! What I tell my clients is that a bio is a little advertisement for you. So think about who will be reading your bio and what you want them to know about you. Then advertise your best and most relevant features!

Re: How to use Twitter to find your next job.

Good luck at the job.
